Social freezing is a preventative freezing of your own healthy ova or sperm for future use. In today's civilized world, social freezing is a common practice.
Freezing of eggs
The woman is the most fertile between the age of 20 and 30. After reaching 35 years, egg quality and fertility drop sharply. In order to have her own child even at an older age, it is possible to freeze her eggs, ideally until she turns 30. When the woman is healthy, of course she can get pregnant naturally and frozen eggs may never be used.
About 95% of the eggs survive the freezing.
Freezing of eggs is good for women
- Who must postpone their motherhood for various reasons,
- Who will have oncological treatment,
- When their ovaries will be removed due to health reasons.

During the consultation, there will be initial examination after which you are recommended appropriate hormonal stimulation.
The purpose of stimulation is to create an optimal number of follicles from which eggs are obtained. Ovaries are stimulated by a combination of hormones that a woman applies at regular intervals. The stimulation effect is monitored by ultrasound examination. Once the desired size of the follicles is reached, the final hormonal injection times the egg sampling.
Egg collection or OPU is performed in analgosedation or total anesthesia and takes about 10-15 minutes. OPU consists in aspiration of the follicular fluid into which the eggs are released. It is performed with a special needle through the vaginal arch under ultrasound control. OPU is done in the morning and it is essential that the woman is on an empty stomach (she must not eat or drink from midnight on).
Examination of a GP is required to confirm that the woman is fit for surgery.
The eggs removed are treated with a cryoprotectant in the embryological laboratory to protect them from frost damage. The eggs are then frozen with the latest and most efficient method of freezing - vitrification.
Freezing of sperm
Sperm can be frozen at any age, but the sperm count and quality drops with increasing age.
Frozen sperm can be stored for up to 20 years and its quality remains intact. About 80% of the sperm survive the freezing.
Freezing sperm is good for men

- Who have scheduled oncology treatment,
- Who have unhealthy lifestyle, smoke, spend most of their time at a computer,
- Who engage in hazardous sports or serve in the army,
- Who live in an environment with increased levels of harmful substances.

Blood and urine collection must be performed during the consultation, so that we can perform legally prescribed laboratory tests and examination of infectious diseases. If everything is fine, we will arrange a date of semen collection with you.
Sampling is usually done by masturbation in one of our discreet sampling rooms. In some cases, the sampling can be done at home, but it is necessary to deliver the sample to the clinic within one hour of collection. The transported semen must be kept at body temperature and in the dark at all times. In the case of severe health issues, the sperm sample is taken with the TESE microsurgical method.
This examination is performed in our embryological laboratory and it assesses the volume of ejaculate, the number of sperm, their motility and morphology. The spermiogram values change over time, so it may be necessary to repeat the sampling and semen analysis to get enough quality sperm for freezing.
Collected sperm is treated with cryoprotectants in the embryological laboratory to protect the cells from frost damage. Consequently, sperm is frozen by the latest and most potent method of freezing - vitrification.
